Local Pickup Shed
Local pickup did not go away. The walk-in storefront did.
Black Patch Performance used to have a staffed retail store in Virginia where customers could come in, talk to someone, and pick up in person. That setup has changed.
We are no longer operating a walk-in retail store, but we still wanted to keep local pickup available for our Virginia customers. The local pickup shed is how we are able to do that.
You order online, we get your order ready and put it in the shed, then we send you the access code so you can pick up on your time.
How Local Pickup Works
1. Place your order online
If you know what you need, you can place the order directly through the local pickup site.
If you are not sure what fits or you need help finding something, message us before ordering and we can point you in the right direction.
2. We get your order ready
Some items are already available locally. Other items, like many tire orders, are brought in from one of our distributors after the order is placed.
Once the item is here and ready for pickup, we put it in the pickup shed for your order.
3. We send the pickup code
The pickup code is sent only after your order is actually in the shed and ready to grab.
Please do not go to the pickup shed before you receive the code. If you do not have the code yet, the order is not ready for pickup yet.
4. Pick up when it works for you
Once you have the code, you can pick up whenever it works for you.
The shed is available 24/7, so you do not have to make it during store hours or meet someone at a specific time.
Why the Shed?
This is probably the biggest question people have.
The short answer is that local pickup only still exists because of the shed.
For years, Black Patch Performance had a staffed retail store in Virginia. Customers could come in, talk to someone, pay in person, and pick up during store hours.
That version of the business is no longer how we operate.
Jonathan, the owner of Black Patch Performance, moved to New Hampshire. Once that happened, keeping a staffed walk-in store open in Virginia was no longer realistic.
At that point, there were really two options:
1. End local pick up completely.
2. Build a new system that still gives Virginia customers a way to order from Black Patch and pick up locally.
The pickup shed is that system.
It lets us keep local pickup available for the local customers who have supported Black Patch over the years.
So while the process is different now, the goal is the same: give local customers a way to get Black Patch products, pricing, and pickup access without having to ship everything.
Same business. Same local pickup area. Different way of making it work.
Common Questions
Can I just bring cash and meet someone?
No.
That was the old retail store setup, and we are no longer operating that way.
We understand why people ask. Cash pickup feels normal when there is a store with someone behind the counter.
But there is not a staffed counter anymore.
The pickup shed only works when the order is already placed, already paid for, and ready to pick up before the code is sent.
Can I come look before I buy?
The pickup shed is for completed orders only.
It is not set up as a showroom, tire shop, or place to browse inventory in person.
If you have questions, need more information, or are not sure if something is right for your vehicle, message us before ordering. We can help through messages, send links, answer questions, and help point you in the right direction.
Once you order, pickup is for the exact item ordered.
Can I pick up before I get the code?
No.
The code is only sent once your order is actually in the shed and ready to grab.
If you have not received the code yet, the order is not ready for pickup.
Is this still Black Patch Performance?
Yes.
This is still Black Patch Performance. The walk-in retail store changed, but the business did not.
The pickup shed is simply the local pickup system we use now.
Same business. Same local pickup area. Different pickup process.
Is mounting and balancing available?
No.
Mounting and balancing is not available through the pickup shed.
If you order tires, you are buying the tires only. You will need to take them somewhere for mounting and balancing.
Are wheels and tires mounted together?
Only the prepackaged set ups are mounted and balanced.
Any other wheels and tires bought will be separate
What Happens After You Order?
After your order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation and we will start getting your pickup ready.
For items that are already available locally, we get the order ready and put it in the pickup shed.
For items that need to come in from a distributor, like many tire orders, we order them in first. Many tire orders are ready in a day or two, depending on availability.
Once your order is in the shed and ready to pick up, we send you the access code and pickup instructions.
The pickup code is typically set to the last four digits of your phone number, but we will message you the exact code to use on the locks.
From there, you can pick up anytime that works for you.

This is still Black Patch Performance. We had a walk-in retail store in Virginia for years, so a lot of local customers remember being able to come in, talk to someone, pay in person, and pick up during store hours.
That part of the business changed, but the business itself did not.
The pickup shed is simply the way local pickup works now. Orders are placed through the website, paid online, and then placed in the shed once they are ready. After that, we send the pickup code so you can grab your order on your time.
It is still Black Patch. It is still our local pickup option. It is just not a staffed retail counter anymore.
